Nigeria Immigration NIS Structure
Human Resource Management – This Directorate is responsible for handling the following task;
- Appointments, Promotions and Discipline
- b) Staff Welfare and Gender
- c) Training and Manpower Development
- d) Personnel
– To ensure a consistent update of the Nominal Roll
– To implement Biometric Registration of all officers
– To ensure enhanced welfare of officers
– To profer unbiased recommendations for the discipline of erring officers
– To provide necessary administrative support for the smooth running of the Service.
Planning, Research and Statistics
The section is responsible for handling the data bank and ICT activities of the NIS. They are mostly into statistics and research activities of the NIS. They generate policies and research for the Nigeria Immigration Service towards driving the body’s activities.
Investigation, Inspectorate and Enforcement
The responsibility of this Section in NIS is to Investigate, Inspect and Enforce. This section is also responsible for anti-corruption trafficking by preventing, monitoring migration of aliens and others into Nigeria. Anyone who wants to obtain Nigerian citizenship will also have to go though them. They are in charge of deportation and repatriation and reducing the rate of smuggling and human trafficking in the country.
Work And Procurement
They are saddled with the responsibility of procurement of requirements and other works activities are taken care of by the section. They maintain buildings and facilities of the NIS nationwide.
Border patrol, ECOWAS/ African Affairs
Their responsibility include land border protection, marine borer protection and airport patrol.
This section is responsible for visa and entry permit. They are the one who issue standard passport to Nigerians interested in traveling out of the country.
