We are recruiting to fill the following vacant positions below:

Job Title: Driver

Purpose of Position

  • Driving WHO Official Vehicle safely without traffic violations and ensure that vehicles are kept in good and working conditions.

Description of Duties
Under the overall supervision of the Operations Officer and the direct supervision of the Technical Officer, Operations Unit, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Drive office vehicles to convey authorized personnel, handle delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;
  • Meet authorized personnel at the airport, facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required;
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.,
  • Performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, regular servicing and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean and mission ready.
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc;
  • Ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in a crash;
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
Education

Essential:

  • Completion of secondary school education.

Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of three years driving experience as a driver; clean safe driving record/history.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations of the country

Desirable:

  • Previous UN and/or INGO experience

Use of Language skills

Essential:

  • Very good knowledge of the local language
  • Ability to read, write and understand instructions in the working language

Skills:

  • Skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Ability to write a concise and official report of incidents.

Job Title: National Professional Officer – Routine Immunization

Objectives of the Programme

  • To interrupt wild poliovirus transmission and achieve polio eradication in Nigeria
  • To strengthen routine immunization and reduce morbidity and mortality from vaccine preventable diseases
  • To achieve accelerated disease control through supplemental activities e.g. measles SIAs
  • To strengthen integrated disease surveillance and response (IDSR)

Description of Duties

  • Provide technical support for polio eradication–> Provide technical support in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of other supplemental immunization activities (e.g. measles, MNT etc.) to improve quality–> Provide technical support in planning, implementation and monitoring of routine immunization activities to increase coverage–> Provide technical support in planning and monitoring of integrated disease surveillance and response activities.

Required Qualifications
Education:

  • Essential: University Degree in Health related field or Social Sciences
  • Desirable: Post graduate degree in Public Health preferably in epidemiology or other related public health fields

Experience:

  • Essential: At least five years relevant experience including field experience in communication and community engagement and advocacy
  • Desirable: Experience in public health especially in immunization activities

Skills:

  • The incumbent should have knowledge and skills in planning, supervision, monitoring and evaluation

Job Title: Data Manager

Purpose of the Position
The objective of the post is to ensure WHO data management and M&E activities at national level provides all the required technical support aimed at supporting the country  to:

  • Ensure availability of quality, timely, and complete information that guides the surveillance and immunization program
  • Monitor achievement of recommended surveillance performance indicators for Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP), other Vaccine Preventable Diseases as well as other diseases of public health priority as highlighted in Nigeria’s Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) strategy.
  • Provide evidences through the triangulation of different data available and guide the program;
  • Build capacity of government staff in data management, through formal and on-job training.

Description of Duties

  • The incumbent is expected to provide data management support to Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and WHO country officer in the following specific tasks
  • Under the overall guidance of the WHO country office representative and over all supervision of IVE focal point and guidance of the  M&E Coordinator, the monitoring and evaluation officer will carry out the following specific task:
  • Ensure quality and timely IDSR data/information is shared with all stakeholders; support all states in the compilation of data for implementation of IDSR.
  • Design and maintain all disease surveillance (Measles, NNT, YF, PBMS, ROTA) database for priority diseases.
  • Produce regular analysis feedback on Accelerated Disease Control (ADC) and New vaccine (PBMS and ROTA)
  • Monitor Timeliness, completeness, and data quality of IDSR data and provide timely feedback to states.
  • Collaborate with other data managers and laboratories to update and harmonizeIDSR data.
  • Triangulation, analysis and feedback of data collected using case-based andIDSR system for selected case-based data set.
  • Produce periodic (weekly, monthly and quarterly) analysis feedback from data to enhance decision making at relevant levels.
  • Conduct data management training to build the capacity of officers in technological innovations.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation system, immunization/Polio SIAs as well as overall Health Information Management System Strengthening efforts.
  • Perform other activities as required by WHO Representative.

Educational Qualifications
Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Monitoring & Evaluation or data management related field with additional data management training.

Experience
Essential:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in health related data management.
  • Experience in quality collection, analysis, dissemination, and use of health information for program planning and management.
  • Experience in database development.
  • Working knowledge of statistical application programs (EPI INFO, SPSS, STATA etc.) and mapping programs (ArcGIS, QGIS etc)

Desirable:

  • Previous related work experience in the UN or other International Development Agencies
  • Use of language skills
  • Essential: Very good Knowledge of English.

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of ICT, programming, mobile and web – based data technology
  • Ability to acquire sound knowledge of WHO rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Demonstrated abilities for team-work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relations with people at various levels and of different background.
